Spotify to YouTube is a tool you run on your own computer. It reads one of your Spotify playlists, finds each song on YouTube, and builds the matching playlist on your YouTube channel.

There is no server, no account to create, and nobody else involved. Everything the tool reads or writes stays on the computer you run it on. Nothing is collected by the author, and there is nothing to sell, share, or analyse.

What it connects to

You sign in to two services yourself, in your own browser. Each asks your permission before granting anything, and shows you exactly what is being requested.

Spotify, to read your playlists. The permissions requested are playlist-read-private and playlist-read-collaborative. It cannot change anything on your Spotify account.
YouTube, to create playlists and add videos to them. The permission requested is https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.

Its use of YouTube API Services

This tool uses YouTube API Services. By using it you are agreeing to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

You can review or withdraw this tool's access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Spotify's equivalent is under Account → Apps at spotify.com/account/apps. Withdrawing access stops the tool working; it does not delete any playlist it has already made.

What is stored, and where

All of it lives in a data folder next to the program, on your own machine.

Sign-in tokens for Spotify and YouTube, so you do not have to sign in every time. These are as sensitive as passwords. They are kept until you delete them or withdraw access.
The playlists you have converted — song titles, artists, and which YouTube video each one was matched to — so an interrupted conversion can pick up where it stopped.
A record of which video each song matched, kept indefinitely. This is what stops the tool spending its limited daily YouTube search allowance looking up the same song twice.
A count of YouTube requests made today, so it can stop before hitting the daily limit.

To erase all of it, delete the data folder. There is no other copy.

What is sent where

To Spotify: a request for the playlist you asked for. See Spotify's Privacy Policy.
To YouTube: the song title and artist, as a search; and the videos chosen, to add to your playlist.

Nowhere else. No analytics, no tracking, no cookies, no third-party services of any kind.

If you run this yourself

The tool is run by each person on their own machine, with their own Spotify and Google credentials. That means whoever runs a copy holds the only data it has, and the author of the tool never sees any of it — including this author.
